If you have looked at any of the reviews that I have posted, you may notice that (so far) they are all pretty positive and some are unabashed love letters.
I have been asked why there aren’t any bad reviews. Don’t I read any bad books? Am I a wimp?
Yes, I have read some bad books and I may very well be a wimp, but there is more to it.
If I don’t like a book I am reading, I stop. There are too many good books out there to read crap. There are also too many good books out there to read things that don’t hold my interest.
If I don’t finish a book, I won’t review it. Maybe I didn’t “get” it. Maybe it just didn’t interest me. In either case, I don’t have the complete experience, so I won’t review it.
This past week, I was reading a book (review forthcoming) and reached a point where I was considering just putting it down. I kept reading and got to another point — a point where everything changed. I hate to think of somebody being denied that experience because a reviewer didn’t finish the book.
I have another reason for posting good reviews: life is too short to write without passion.
I write about things that I am passionate about.
The reviews I have posted are for books that I loved and want other people to love.
Finding a great book is more important than avoiding a bad one.
